Nature trips near the Vegas strip

The city of Las Vegas in Nevada is most popular for its gambling strip as well as the glamour and grandeur of Las Vegas structures, hotels and shows. While chances are most tourists who travel to Las Vegas are out to try their luck on the slot machines and the poker tables, what very few people know is that there is more to this Nevada city at the heart of the Mojave.

Las Vegas, located further Southwest of the large and populated state of California, is and ideal place to go to for anyone and everyone who is raring and raving to explore the Southwest attractions of the United States. Las Vegas is situated right at the center of the United States’ most breathtaking natural attractions. Among these are the Grand Canyon National Park, the Zion National Park and the Death Valley. All these amazing sights are roughly 150 miles drive from the city of Las Vegas towards the east, northeast and west respectively.

Much nearer the city is the Red Rock Canyon. While less spectacular than that of the Grand Canyon, this amazing scenery is but 20 miles west of Las Vegas. And if you head towards the East, roughly 25 miles away is the amazing Boulder Dam and Lake Mead which showcases the meeting and clashing of barren rock formations and deep blue lake waters.

And if you’re up for some hiking and sightseeing for volcanic rock formations and lava fields, then a visit to the Valley of Death, roughly 60 miles north of Las Vegas should be on your itinerary.

If you are out to experience the amazing sights and the red and orange colors that the desert can provide, then you may very well map out that last minute deal to Las Vegas to include a tour of these amazing natural wonders.
