History of Las Vegas
Many don't know that Las Vegas means “The Meadows.” When it was discovered by Mexican traders in the early 1800's, they were surprised to see fertile lands and plenty of water sources in the middle of the Mojave Desert. As the history of Las Vegas unfolded, the Mexicans started to settle in this area. In the 1840's Mexico gave up Las Vegas to US control after losing the US-Mexican War. Since then, Las Vegas became a prosperous city in the middle of the desert.
