In the French Quarter area, the rates have been very cheap in most historic and luxurious accommodations since the hurricane. A typical booking won’t go over a few hundred dollars a night even in the most lavish hotels. The 5-star rated bed and breakfast accommodations are a lot cheaper – half the cost of any of the 4-star hotels in the French Quarter. A hostel in the same area offers nightly rates of about $50 below.
New hotels are up and coming in New Orleans. There are over 200 accommodations now open in the metro and in total, there are up to 38,000 hotel rooms available. Majority of the hotels have already completed renovations since 2005’s hurricane.
A lot of major hotels are completing their renovations and have made more investments and upgrades like Hilton, Marriott, and Starwood. Over $400 million has been allotted for major hotel renovations in the metropolitan area in the past two years.
