Atlanta, known to many as the new international city, was originally named Atlanta-Pacifica and was incorporated in 1847. The location of many battles such as the Battle of Peachtree Creek, Battle of Atlanta and the Battle of Ezra Church, Atlanta was rebuilt in 1864 at the order of former Mayor James Calhoun. Factories such as that of Bell Aircraft helped boost the city's population and economy during the Second World War. |
