History of Orlando
Orlando's namesake is a former citizen named Orlando Reeves (or Rees to some) who owned a sugar mill and plantation and whose name, after he carved it into a tree, has been then since assumed to be his grave site and came on to be called “Orlando's grave” or “Orlando”. After its incorporation as a town in 1875, Orlando became the center of Florida's citrus industry and this period is what came to be known as Orlando's Golden Era.
