Rome has many hotels to choose from depending on your budget and preference. Just book your accommodations ahead of time because this is quite a popular destination. There are hotels in the outskirts and they are less expensive but the travel back to the center of the city will be inconvenient and would entail extra costs.
The Roman government rates the hotels based on a star system depending on the amenities. A smaller hotel or pensionne would be comfortable enough but it could be rated low because of lack of some amenities.
