Traveling around the city requires transportation. Car rentals in Dubai are available at low rates, and with little documentary requirements. Driving licenses from the US, UK and Australia are acceptable. For the other nationalities, a temporary driving permit can be obtained from the licensing office at the City Centre shopping mall. Finding your way around the city can be very challenging since the junction numbers are not in order, and maps may not be consistent with the actual road signs because of misspellings due to transliterations from Arabic to English. Avoid driving around the city during peak hours since traffic takes a stand still, and parking areas are scarce.
