Attractions of Dubai
Dubai primarily has a Muslim culture, so during the season of Ramaddan, non-Muslims should observe less drinking and partying during this period of fasting and prayer. During the rest of the year, visitors can enjoy lots of adventures: the desert and the sea. Although going around the city on foot is not advisable, all attractions can be reached through a car or taxi service.
The Dubai Creek extends from the sea to the inner part of the city, and tourists can ride a water taxi called “abra”. Another attraction in Dubai is the old Bastakiya district which remains to show the traditional courtyard set up without the modern amenities. The Grand Mosque is also an interesting attraction, and an important destination for worshippers. Non-Muslims are not allowed to enter, but they will not miss the sight as it stands at 230 feet.
Other exciting attractions are:
- Souks or traditional markets where shoppers can bargain
- Dubai Museum
- Jumeirah Mosque
- Ski Dubai – an indoor ski resort
- Wild Wadi – a modern water theme park
