History of Johannesburg

These attractions will give you a glimpse of the history of Johannesburg, and actually - of mankind, as some of the oldest fossils are found in South Africa. The discovery of gold in the 1800s from surrounding areas attracted people from neighboring cities and countries. The existing government before the British occupation was the Boer government, but they lost in the Boer Wars and the city was eventually controlled by the British government.
